Chances are we've all lit and enjoyed a scented candle, but the all important question is whether we trimmed the wick before striking the match?
Caring for your candles isn't something and nothing, it's about safety and ensuring you get the very best experience from each burn. Wick trimming is a simple yet effective practice that we recommend you do after the first burn, each time you light your candle. Here's why:
Safety First
Trimming your candle wick is not just a suggestion; it's a safety measure. When a candle burns, the visible wick becomes longer and creates a larger flame. The larger a candle flame, the greater the possibility of experiencing an issue with the container. A trimmed wick keeps the flame at a safe distance from the container, reducing chances of mishaps.
Beautifully Clean Burns, Every Time
You'll know your wick is too long if your flame flickers or appears uneven. Unfortunately flickering flames produce soot and smoke, which impacts the aesthetics of your candle and in some cases, can emit nasties into the air quality of your home. All Pause Reflect Repeat candles are made from soy wax so are entirely natural and non-toxic, but a trimmed wick will prolong your candle's longevity so you can enjoy all the wellbeing benefits and gorgeous scents for longer.
Ok, so you know why you should be trimming your candle wicks but what next? Keep reading... we've got you.
How To Trim Your Candle Wicks?
You'd be forgiven for thinking this is as simple as grabbing the scissors and snipping away, but hold fire. The ideal wick length for our Pause Reflect Repeat candles is around 1/4 inch (6mm). After a candle's first burn, trim the wick to this length each time before burning. We recommend waiting until your candle is cool first, and be sure to remove any debris or trimmings from the candle surface.
